Due to the Corona period of the Uttar Pradesh government, the process of procurement of wheat in Uttar Pradesh is going on in UP Gehu Kharid 2022, so far 20.50 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been procured. This acquisition has been done at minimum support price to some 399,935 farmers. In Uttar Pradesh, the Uttar Pradesh government had entrusted the responsibility of making this acquisition to 11 agencies. Out of these 11 agencies, 7 agencies have operated purchase centres. The Uttar Pradesh Co-operative Federation has operated around 3,252 procurement centres. Out of which about 9 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been procured. The government has so far set up 5,612 procurement centers in Uttar Pradesh.
Along with this, the State Agricultural Produce Market Council has set up 110 wheat purchasing centers in 48 blocks. The minimum support price in these centers has been fixed at Rs 1,975 per quintal. Therefore, 46,982 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured. Under this scheme, 8,523 farmers have been paid Rs 92.78 crore for wheat procurement.
