Telangana Nethanna Bima Scheme, Telangana Government has launched new Netanna Bima Scheme on 7th August 2022. Under Netanna Bima Scheme, the state government has provided Rs. Provides insurance coverage up to 5 lakhs.

Telangana Nethanna Bima Scheme

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao launched Netanna Bima Scheme on Sunday. On the occasion of the launch of the scheme, the CM congratulated the weavers on the occasion of National Handloom Day. The CM said that Telangana government is working for the welfare of handloom workers by implementing many new schemes. The CM explained that Netanna Bima is one of the schemes introduced for weavers in the country. About 80,000 head families will be benefited through this insurance scheme.

Telangana weavers Rs. 5 lakh insurance coverage

In case of unfortunate death of an eligible beneficiary under the Netanna insurance scheme, an insurance facility of Rs.5 lakh will be provided to those families. It provides financial security to handloom and power loom weaving families. CM KCR stated that this scheme is a proof of the government's commitment towards the welfare of the people. The CM lashed out at the central government for destroying the handloom and powerloom sectors by increasing taxes.

Premium amount under TS netanna insurance scheme

Under this scheme Telangana Government has joined hands with Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India for Netanna Bima Scheme. Telangana State Handloom and Textile Department head is the nodal agency for the implementation of the insurance scheme. The annual premium of the beneficiaries is paid by the government to LIC on their behalf.

Meanwhile, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLC said that the state and central governments have come together for the welfare of handloom workers on the occasion of National Handloom Day. He said that no government has taxed handloom and Modi government has imposed 5 percent tax on handloom for the first time. The MLC also asked the central government to take a decision to abolish handloom tax and make GST zero.

Netanna Insurance Scheme Beneficiaries

At present there are one lakh weavers working in handloom and textile industry. So the state government will spend Rs. 5 lakhs to their nominees in case of their death. Chintakindi Mallesham, a handloom worker and Padma Shri awardee, thanked Telangana CM KCR for introducing the scheme for the welfare of handloom workers.

In India, National Handloom Day is celebrated on 7th August every year to recognize the efforts of handloom workers in the country. In 2015, Prime Minister Modi organized the first National Handloom Day in Chennai.
