The temple, which is said to have been built in two years at a cost of Rs 50 crore, is the first of its kind in the country and will cater to the spiritual needs of over one lakh people. Modi also launched a project to install LED lights in all temples across the country.

The Jagatguru Sreesant Tukaram Maharaj Shila Mandir is located in Aundh, a suburb of Pune. The temple complex covers an area of 16 acres (6 ha). The construction of the mandir was started in 2014 and was completed in 2017.

The inauguration of Jagatguru Sreesant Tukaram Maharaj Shila Mandir in Pune was a momentous affair. The temple, which cost Rs.130 crore, is the biggest and most elaborate shrine dedicated to the Hindu saint since his death in 1772. PM Modi inaugurated it in presence of a large congregation including state and central ministers, Yuvjanathan Surya Prakash Joshi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and other dignitaries.


Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi said that the mandir was an embodiment of India's spiritual values and its aspirations for progress. "This is an important day not just for Pune but for the entire country," he said. He praised Maharaj's contribution to spiritual education and exhorted people to follow his teachings. "Maharaj was a true visionary who showed us how we can lead a better life. We should learn from his example," he added.


PM Modi also visited the temple's sanctum where he offered prayers to Maharaj.

On May 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Jagatguru Sreesant Tukaram Maharaj Shila Mandir in Pune. The temple is located in Darwagad colony, near the Pune Municipal Corporation office.


The Jagatguru Sreesant Tukaram Maharaj Shila Mandir is a beautiful and auspicious temple dedicated to the saint who was born in 1740 and who died in 1817. He is believed to be an incarnation of Vishnu and is also known as “Tukaram” or “Bapuji”.


The temple has a large hall with a carved ceiling and exhibits many artifacts related to the saint’s life and works. There are also several libraries inside the temple. The main attraction of the temple is the idol of Jagatguru Sreesant Tukaram Maharaj, which is said to be miraculous.
