India’s 1st private train service, run by the Japanese company East Japan Railway Company (JR East), has been flagged off in India. The ‘Bharat Gaurav Scheme’, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August last year, aims to provide better and affordable travel options to the masses. The train service will run between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

The first private train service in India, flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi under the "Bharat Gaurav Scheme", commenced operations from Mumbai to Ahmedabad on Thursday.

The service, which is being operated by Indian Railways' subsidiary Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), will initially run on a weekly basis and has been designed to cater to the luxury needs of the affluent class.

Under the scheme, MCL will be given a mandate to run premium trains catering to the upper middle class and rich people. The government has also announced plans to start similar services in other parts of the country.

Bharat Gaurav Scheme

1. India's first privately operated train service, Bharat Gaurav Scheme, was flagged off on Saturday. The service is operated by Pune-based IRCTC.

2. The launch of the train service comes at a time when the railways are facing a crisis due to lack of funds.

3. The Bharat Gaurav Scheme is aimed at providing better services to the passengers and bringing in more private players into the railway sector.

4. Under the scheme, the ticket prices for the train are lower than those of trains operated by the railways.

Benefits of the Scheme

The "Bharat Gaurav Scheme" was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, aimed at providing a luxurious and comfortable travel experience to the masses. The scheme, which is being implemented by the railways under the leadership of Shri Suresh Prabhu, offers benefits such as rail passes, discounts on food and beverages and complimentary tickets for children.

Under the scheme, passengers can avail of rail passes that cover multiple destinations across India. These passes offer unlimited travel for a period of six months, one year or two years. Passengers can also avail of discounts on food and beverages at railway stations and on board trains. In addition, complimentary tickets for children are available under the scheme.

The scheme has already seen a great response from the public. In just its first week of implementation, over 1.1 million passengers have availed of the benefits offered by the scheme. The railways are hopeful that this popularity will continue as the scheme is extended to other parts of India in the coming months.

How the Scheme Works

The Bharat Gaurav Scheme is a government initiative that aims to provide free travel on private trains to passengers who are above the age of 60 years. Under the scheme, passengers who are booked on a train through an online ticket booking portal can receive a free ticket if they are over the age of 60 years.

To qualify for the free ticket, passengers must provide proof of age, such as a passport or driver’s license. The scheme is also available to passengers who are travelling in group sizes of 10 or more. Finally, the scheme is available only to passengers travelling in first class compartments.

The Bharat Gaurav Scheme is part of India’s efforts to promote tourism. By providing free travel on private trains, it is hoped that more people will visit India and spend their money in the country’s economy.

The Train Riders

The first private train service in India, Bharat Gaurav Scheme was flagged off on Sunday. The train service, which will run between Delhi and Mumbai, is operated by Indian Railway Company Limited (IRCTC).

The train service will be a boon to the commuters as it will offer a fast and comfortable journey. Under the scheme, the ticket price for the first year has been fixed at Rs 2,000. After the first year, the ticket price will increase annually by Rs 100. The train service is expected to commence operations from October this year.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi inaugurated the scheme on Sunday. He said that the scheme would create jobs and boost economic activity in Maharashtra and Delhi. He also said that it would help in promoting tourism in Maharashtra and Delhi.

The development of railways has been one of the key priorities of the Modi government. The government has made significant investments in railway infrastructure over the past few years. This has led to increased travel options and improved passenger experience.
